This one alone is worth reading dejnis whole collection. It’s all in the mix, I guess. No surprise, they’re mostly pretty grim tales, folks ruled by greed, down on their luck slightly nutty types–and Lehane nails them all, his vivid characterizations hallmarks of his novels, brought equally to life in this brief collection.
Breaking down boundaries between audiences and the action, and performing in unconventional spaces, Player King hopes to develop a new generation of vested theatregoers. The play strays of into pretentious verbal territory at times, but is pretty good for all that.

Although I am loath to do so, I am retiring this book to the unappealing pile. Dennis Lehane born Aug 4th, is an American author. That said, I found this an extremely different side of Dennis Denjis and one which I have not decided whether I like or not. I’m a big short story fan, and this collection from Dennis Lehane was completely fulfilling.
Some look like a foreplay of what could’ve grown into something bigger. I really enjoy Dennis LeHanes books however this was not one of my favorites. Lehane’s novels are usually dark, but he seems to view his short stories as experiments for determining the extent of his own morbidity.
It quickly becomes apparent that Bobby’s father has retrieved him only to find out where the heist loot is hidden, and Bobby, in turn, needs to know what happened to his girlfriend, Gwen. The title of the book is the title of the play that the last short story was turned into. Black kids or white kids? The collection’s centerpiece is “Until Gwen,” which has also been adapted by Lehane into a two-act play, Coronado.

Running Out of Dog: Short stories are not my thing, and the subject of most of these were pretty dark, drug laiden and violent. Very tightly constructed and well written.
